About the event

The Spiritual & Cultural Significance of the Buganu Ceremony

The Buganu Ceremony marks the arrival of the Marula fruit harvest, a time of gratitude, renewal, and communal celebration. It is a spiritual and cultural gathering led by the Queen Mother, where Swazi women play a central role, honoring the ancestral spirits through song, dance, and the sacred brewing of Marula beer. This festival is a prayer for abundance, fertility, and unity, reinforcing the interconnectedness of the people, the land, and the ancestors.
