Nature's Cycle: Decolonising Time Through Cosmology

In Nature’s Cycle, Zanemvula Tsabedze explores the history of the calendars and clocks we live by, and the older ways of observing time through the sun, stars, seasons and cycles of nature.

Journeying through the Gregorian and Roman calendars, ancient sites and traditions, equinoxes, solstices, constellations and precession, the book brings recorded Kemetic knowledge into conversation with oral Nguni knowledge, lived experience and custom. It is an invitation to question what we have inherited, reconnect with African ways of knowing and recognise nature as a living measure of time.
